Daisy Sour Cream

Daisy sour cream is a simply thick, spreadable topping that my father-in-law claims in his young farm work years, they (with what he proclaimed was the initial, original product) fed it to the pigs. He won't eat sour cream. Ha! Ha! God bless him!

I like sour cream. There are roughly five sour cream products that I think are worthy. Those are Dean's (represented already on Food Run Fix), Kemp's, a very good out of state company based in St. Paul, Minnesota, Friendly Farms (Aldi's brand and very thick & super good), Breakstone's and Daisy sour cream. All five are rich and thick.

Stay far away from those cheap and watery sour cream brands; they are not greatI like a heavy sour cream; after all, if you're going to eat sour cream, why not go full bore? Get the best, just like most Mexican restaurants serve in those little, small cups! If you stick your spoon into it and can't get it off without the aid of your finger? That's quality sour cream!

How About A Recipe That Has A Sour Cream Taste?

This is a great Beef & Noodle Stroganoff two-part recipe that's easy, it's delicious and I love it! And, of course, sour cream is involved. Here's what you'll need:

Beef Balls Stroganoff

Make the beef meatballs with these ingredients (double or triple for larger portions

Make beef balls: In a large bowl, hand mix ground chuck with salt, pepper, steak sauce, crumbs, and the egg until well combined. Roll them up into balls.

Brown them in butter and cook low until done. Dip them off. Set those beef meatballs aside.

  1.  1 & 3/4 LB ground chuck (you can use pre-made frozen meatballs, but I recommend going for your own personal rolled up 80% 20% ground chuck grind)
  2. 1 Teaspoon Salt
  3. 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
  4. 4 Teaspoons A1 Sauce
  5.  1/3 Cup Packaged Dry Breadcrumbs
  6. 1 Egg
  7. 2 Tablespoons Butter

Sauce Ingredients:

Make the sauce: To drippings in the skillet that you cooked the meatballs in, add 2 tablespoons butter. Sauté mushrooms 5 minutes, stirring. Remove from heat. Stir in flour and catsup. Gradually stir in broth. Add the onion soup mix, bring to boiling, stirring. Reduce heat & simmer for 2 minutes. Add beef balls and simmer gently for five minutes or until heated through. Stir in sour cream and heat gently. This recipe calls for rice as a base for the Beef & Noodle Stroganoff to be poured on, but I like noodles which I'll add here!

  1. 2 Tablespoons Butter
  2. 1/2 Pound Sliced Mushrooms
  3. 2 Tablespoons Flour
  4. 1 Teaspoon Catsup
  5. One Can Condensed Beef Broth
  6. 1/2 Package Dry Onion Soup Mix
  7. One Cup Of Daisy Sour Cream
