Hamburger Helper
I remember existing on hamburger helper when it was $1.00 a box and hamburger was $1.50 a pound, more or less. Those days are gone and a food that once was a reasonable "survival" food is now out of reach when you have to match it up with ground beef prices now. That said, you have to keep an eye out, in my opinion, for a $1.99 per pound ground beef to make eating Helper worthwhile! If you like ground turkey, you can use that instead of ground beef and really make it a cheap meal.
Watch out for the product price as well. Depending on the store, the price can alternate a quarter or more. Helper is tasty and pasta based. When I hear the name, it brings me warm memories of dinners past. Upper class may sniff their noses, but middle class can eat well with this product. No shame here!
