Kings Hawaiian Rolls
Kings Hawaiian Rolls have a distinctive orange package that you can't miss when you're shopping for the sweet tasting bread! That sweet flavor really makes this bread so darned great!
Started in the 1950's in Hilo by a Hawaiian-Japanese baking genius named Robert R. Taira, his sweet bread became an island hit, going from being baked in Robert's Bakery to a new name, King's (fitting!)
The bread makes some tasty sliders with your choice of deli meat, cheese and whatever other yummy tidbits you want to put on it. Get creative! Try some ground beef with Manwich, fresh green peppers and onions on the bread for some seriously good Sloppy Joe's!
There are other brand names putting out Hawaiian bread; Sara Lee, Brownberry and Ball Park in various forms. I'm not sure how they can keep from being dismally dismayed with their efforts. Stick with the original; you'll thank yourself with every bite!

I've also included some BBQ sauces (which I haven't tried yet) and stuffing made with the bread. Here's an interesting video on a bakery that makes the bread. One thing stands out to me and that's how clean the place looks. Enjoy! |
