Ocean Spray Craisins
Ocean Spray Craisins; a great product that is tasty and full of healthy antioxidants! They aren't cheap when a shopper buys them, but they are a key ingredient for a lot of recipes. Wisconsin, where I live & Food Run Fix is based, is the capital of cranberry production. I'm proud of that! I've never seen it, but I hope to: the harvesting of cranberries up in the central to northern region of WI.
Wisconsin claims a large share of our US cranberry production: 60%! Cranberries grow in low areas and when those areas are flooded with water, the berries float to the top and are gathered. Pretty cool! There's a cookie that I love that uses cranberries in it. It has craisins & granola in it, perhaps raisins in it, I'm not sure. It's tart & sweet at the same time and really is a good treat.
Drying cranberries like a raisin to be used in dishes was genius. Use them in beverages, salads, sides, sauces, dips, bread & cookies.
Forget about everything you know about "canned cranberry"! Anybody that's celebrated Thanksgiving has encountered this sauce or jelly, hated it or liked it, or whatever. Cranberries, in my opinion, have moved on from that and have become a product that consumers can really use. Craisin operatives have made this happen. My hat is off!
